Jordan
Kicking things off this month, the Jordan Brand introduced us to this all new colorway of the Jordan Retro 3. Earning them the “Stealth” nickname, the Jordan Brand covered this new-generation colorway with a series of grey shades and a combination of black and varsity red throughout. While the colorway might put these over the top, the selection of materials used is also just as great. The “Stealth” Jordan Retro 3 arrives covered in nubuck, with a pebbled leather running along the mudguard. The timeless elephant print is also present, along the toe and heel area. These retro Air Jordans released the same day as the Fire Red Jordan Retro 3 and according to some, stole the show in the process. At a time when Jordan Brand was releasing one general release and one Lifestyle release, these fell into another category of “limited general release”. They were not as widely available as the Fire Reds, but attainable at doors other than Jordan Lifestyle retailers. Now Nike needed a new designer to make the Retro 3. So they went to world famous Tinker Hatfield. His name is known mainly for designing Jordan Retro 3, and also making a return on the Jordan 3, but Tinker also designed some really nice Nike’s as well. Tinker and Michael worked hard, talked to each other on what were good ideas, and what could “work”. Jordan Retro 3 HistoryMichael wanted a lightweight shoe, with a lot of durability. So with the Retro 3 they both decided to make them a Mid top, the first mid top to be seen in the Air Jordan line. On the Retro 3 model Tinker placed the famous jumpman logo on the back of the shoe, and adding in a “elephant print” on the toe box. Also the IIIs were the first Jordan 3 to have a visible air-sole unit.
